Gori Tere Pyaar Mein gets a good opening

Cast: Kareena Kapoor Khan, Imran Khan and Shraddha Kapoor
Director: Punit Malhotra

Punit Malhotra is back after his hit film, I Hate Luv Storys. The producer of the film, Karan Johar paired Kareena and Imran again after Ekk Main Aur Ekk Tu. Gori Tere Pyar Mein got a good start as the movie opened to a decent occupancy in multiplexes. With the current stage, we hope the film does well over the weekend.
Whereas, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela got an amazing collection in its 2nd week as well. The movie has collected around 82 crores and will easily reach 100 crores in its third week. Looks like this is yet another 100 crore film for Deepika Padukone!

Bigg Boss 7: Were Tanishaa Mukherji and Armaan Kohli really found naked inside the house?

There are a lot of reports about the Bollywood’s two forgotten actors being caught naked on cameras. But are they true?

Various reports have been doing the rounds since yesterday about Tanishaa Mukherji and Armaan Kohli being caught naked on cameras inside the Bigg Boss 7house. However, our little birdie from Lonavala has gone on to call this a hoax.
A particular report quotes a crew member who says that these two contestants were found in ‘compromising’ position on cameras and this sudden development is the reason why Kushal Tandon’s re-entry inside the glass walled house was postponed from midnight to early morning.
However our source begs to differ and says that nothing like this has happened. “Kushal entered the house as it was scheduled. These rumours about Tanishaa and Armaan are completely baseless. With 84 prying cameras capturing every move of the contestants, how can something like this ever happen on the show?” says our source.
Well coming from respected families we don’t think Tanishaa and Armaan will go down to that level on national television. What do you think BollywoodLifers?

Ek Thi Daayan movie review: This witch is spooky but unconvincing!

Watch Kannan Iyer’s debut directorial venture only for the impressive performances by Konkona Sen Sharma and Emraan Hashmi

Walking into a theatre to watch a film penned by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Ekta Kapoor – and going by its certainly impressive promos – one anticipates something more than run of the mill stuff. But so diametrically opposite are the two halves of director Kannan Iyer’s debut movie Ek Thi Daayan that you wonder if the horror flick is made by two different filmmakers with contradictory cinematic sensibilities. If the first half of the film – starring Emraan Hashmi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kalki Koechlin and Huma Qureshi – is impressive, taut and even intriguing, the second half is lengthy, disjointed and highly unconvincing – especially the climax where you have an out-and-out fist fight between the good supernatural and the evil paranormal forces or to be more precise, between the pishach and the daayan. The second half nosedives into occult, voodoo and black magic and simply butchers the interestingly and intelligently weaved first half of reality vs fantasy in one swift stroke.
Bobo (Emraan Hashmi) plays India’s top magician, a star. He gets hallucinations about his dead kid sister Misha for which he seeks psychiatric help in the form of a rather odd Dr Palit, who puts him under regression hypnosis to go back to the distant past to get a clue about this mystery. What Bobo sees in the hypnotic state disturbs him. It reveals that when he was 11 and his sister Misha was six, a supernatural power, the supposed daayan, in the form of Diana (played wonderfully by Konkona) enters the scene and destroys his entire family, leaving him orphaned. Worse still, she promises to return and haunt him forever.
Hashmi gets out of this rigorous regression session only to be told by Dr Palit that what he saw during the therapy is a fabrication of his prejudiced mind. The star magician is advised to forget the past and begin life on a fresh note.
And just when Bobo feels that he is back to normalcy with his wife Tamara (Huma) and son Zubin, Lisa Dutt (Kalki) enters the scene to add turbulence to Bobo’s life and mind. Though she looks perfectly normal, Bobo’s instinct tells him that the daayan is back. Nobody takes his gut feeling seriously.
Now Emraan’s character is going through the biggest dilemma of his life. Has the witch returned to fulfill her promise or is his disturbed mind hallucinating, projecting his deep hidden fears and turning the innocuous Lisa into a blood thirsting daayan? Are the battles between the good and the evil only conjured up by the mind that constantly weaves stories based on past experiences or do the evil powers really exist and need to be dealt with in reality? You have to watch the movie to get answers to these.
As for the performances, Konkona Sen Sharma simply steals the show. She portrays the complex and layered character through her expressive eyes with amazing effortlessness. Those subtle, ever-shifting micro-emotions on her face are difficult to read. Emraan Hashmi too has delivered a stellar performance as a haunted terribly by the menacing past magician. Huma Qureshi is less impressive in this one than her first two outings – Gangs Of Wasseypur 2 and Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana. Kalki Koechlin has played her part well and Pawan Malhotra as Hashmi’s father is memorable. A special mention here for the curly haired Vishesh Tiwari who nails it as the young Bobo.
All in all, Ek Thi Daayan is spine-chilling in parts, intriguing in the first half majorly because of the sound technical support and fine editing, besides stellar acting by its lead cast. But the lack of coherence in writing, the bizarre climax and its arduous length kill the witchcraft brutally towards the end!

Maryam Zakaria To Do An Item Number In 'Rowdy Rathore'

Iranian beauty Maryam Zakaria who made her foray into Bollywood with Saif Ali Khan-starrer ‘Agent Vinod’ will be doing an item number in upcoming flick ‘Rowdy Rathore’ featuring Akshay Kumar.

Maryam was seen grooving along with Kareena Kapoor in the spy thriller in the ‘mujra’ song ‘Dil Mera Muft Ka’ and will now sway to the fast-paced item song in ‘Rowdy Rathore’ directed by Prabhudeva.

“I am doing an item song in ‘Rowdy Rathore’. In the song I have an Indian look...It is a catchy, fast-paced song.  I don’t dance with Akshay or Sonakshi in the song,” Maryam told PTI.

Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ronnie Screwvala, ‘Rowdy Rathore’ which is a remake of Telugu film ‘Vikramarkudu’, features Akshay Kumar in a double-role, opposite Sonakshi Sinha and is slated for release in June.

The item number is choreographed by none other than prolific dancer Prabhudeva himself and Maryam admits that she struggled to get the right moves.

“Prabhudeva has a unique style of dance which is tough. I am happy that I am getting to do something different...It was a challenge to do a song choreographed by Prabhudeva, but I loved doing it,” she said.

Responding to a buzz that the item number was initially offered to actress Karishma Kapoor, Maryam says,”I am not aware if Karishma was offered this song or not....I am happy with the fact that this offer came to me”.

Maryam, who is born in Iran and brought up in Sweden, has acted in Tamil and Telugu films and is intending to make it big in Bollywood.

“I had a special appearance in Hindi film ‘Paying Guest’ (2009). I got this offer for ‘Agent Vinod’ and now ‘Rowdy Rathore’, my patience have in a way paid off. I want to do big and lead roles in Bollywood...I am meeting directors and reading scripts,” she said.

About the item numbers, Maryam said that she would continue doing them provided the offers excite her.

“Today, even several big actresses are doing item songs, so why shy away from it,” she added.

Salman Unhappy With Angela Johnson

Bollywood star Salman Khan wanted to launch the leggy lass Angela Johnson in his home production next year, but he is miffed after Anglea did a soft drinks commercial with South star Mahesh Babu, reports midday.

Even before pre-production work on her big screen debut has started, the part-Indian, part-Icelander model  has featured in the soft drinks ad with Mahesh Babu, raising the heckles of Salman Khan.

The report quotes an industry source: "A launch with Salman Khan is a big thing for any newcomer. So that would naturally be incorporated in the marketing and promotion of the film.

"That's why doing an ad with Mahesh Babu is not the same as doing a film with Sallu, never mind if it's a pan-India commercial."

The report said, Salman doesn't want Angela to be in the news for anything that could come in the way of her debut.

Recently, it was reported that the actor had told her off when he had heard about her bonding with Tiger Shroff.

Angela Johnson was earlier linked up with  Ranbir Kapoor.

If Rani Mukherjee can, why cant i use slangs : Paoli Dam

Actress Paoli Dam, who makes her Bollywood debut in ‘Hate Story’, says she thinks bold. Being bold is not in the body. It is in the mind. What’s the big dealin showing a bare back, unhooking a bra or flashing the panties?

Who is saying that I am the new Mallika Sherawat of Bollywood? Neither Vivek nor Vikram said it. Then who is spreading this? It’s not for nothing that Vikram Bhatt has begun to address Paoli Dam as “Ms Damn Good”. Her “Hate Story” dialogues – “Main iss shehar ki sabse badi randi banna chahti hoon (I want to be the biggest whore in the city)” and “I f**k those who f**k with me” – have sent ripples across board. If that’s what she says on screen, her off screen bytes are equally upfront. The Tollywood actor, who is making her Bollywood debut in Vivek
